Bringing your dog with you on a road trip makes it so much more rewarding. Not only do you get to enjoy all the perks of traveling, but you also bond with your dog and share one-of-a-kind experiences. There’s something particularly satisfying about knowing your dog has pooped in the same foothills that Butch Cassidy patroled or walked on the same path through mountains that early colonials paved. Your dog can end up better traveled than many people.
To ensure you and your dog are set up for success, it’s important to pack all the essentials. This road trip packing list covers all the big hitters so you are packed and prepared for any situation. It includes things for you, your dog and things to keep in the car.
Depending on the length of time you’ll be on the road or the climate you’ll be passing through, you may need to tweak the list to suit your needs. For that reason, there are blank lines added at the end of some of the sections so you can any essentials I may have missed.
Pro Tip: Check off everything you’ve packed on a printed copy of this list, then pack the list. That way, when you’re moving from location to location, you can review your list to make sure you haven’t left anything behind!
